With the 4th of July right around the corner, we wanted to touch on firework safety. Last year, even during state shutdowns, there were more fireworks set off within the city due to the lack of city-funded shows and activity restrictions. However, when individuals take to having their own fireworks with varying sizes of displays, more fire risks are created.

Here are a few tips to help keep your home, family, and neighborhood safe during this year’s 4th of July celebrations:

  • Follow your city and state guidelines for fireworks to what kind you can enjoy from home.
  • Keep buckets of water or a water hose connected to a spigot nearby.
  • Rake your yard and clean up around your property to remove any flammable objects.
  • Do not try to relight or reuse misfired fireworks.
  • Never light fireworks inside
  • It is best to set them as far away from structures or other flammable items before lighting.
  • Soak all fireworks in a bucket of water before disposing of the container.
